Dr. Pearis obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario in Psychology with a minor in Biology in her home country of Canada. She then graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN. Her interests in children and psychology led her to pursue triple board training in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University in Providence, RI. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Pearis has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in a number of settings including medical hospital, consultation-liaison, psychiatric inpatient, residential, therapeutic school and outpatient settings. Currently, she has a private practice in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry on the East Side of Providence, RI and is a clinical assistant professor at Brown University supervising pediatric and child psychiatry physicians in training. Dr. Pearis also served as President of the Rhode Island chapter of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and is a member of its Board of Trustees. Since 2011, she has served on the Rhode Island Special Education Advisory Committee as an appointee by the Commissioner of Rhode Island Department of Education. She has also served as the Councilor-At-Large for the Rhode Island Medical Society and in 2018 was awarded the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award by the Brown Alpert Medical School.

Dr. Pearis firmly believes patients know themselves best and that active listening is often all that is needed to make accurate diagnoses and recommendations. She also encourages and supports patients to become active participants in all aspects of their treatment and welcomes the collaboration of primary care physicians, therapists, and other professionals as well as family members to assure the best outcomes for her patients.
